Paperstone Countertops

Paperstone was one of the first products that we carried here at Greenworks. Over the years there have been new products and new colours but they have continued to make a beautiful sustainable countertop.

The original solid colour product is made from recycled paper and a PetroFree phenolic resin derived from the cashew shell. The paper is first soaked in a partly cured liquid phenolic resin. It is then run though an oven to cure further. They then trim the sheets and stack them to put into a hot press where they are held under pressure until the resin is fully cured.

Paperstone Countertops Designer Series

For the designer series they alternate layers of a melamine resin and the original recycled paper product and phenolic resin. This creates a striped edge but allows for lighter colours.

Paperstone Countertops Versatility

We mostly have customers using Paperstone for countertops but we also see wall cladding and sometime drawers and door fronts in kitchens. Paperstone is durable and can be refinished. Paperstone can cantilever making it great for islands (1/2" 13m thick sheet will cantilever 9" 23 cm and a 3/4"  19mm thick sheet will cantilever 18" 46 cm with a deflection of less then 1/16" 0.16 cm).

Paperstone is warmer to the touch than a stone product. It can be cut with woodworking tools so is great for a skilled DIY project. It is available from 1/8" thick up to 1 1/4" and a number of different sizes. You can check out all the colours and sizes and order samples here.
