Another unique feature of latex is that it is extremely long-lasting, around thirty years under normal circumstances. Natural latex is biodegradable so at the end of its life this organic mattress can be shredded and disposed of without sitting in a landfill for the next 200 years. The natural mattresses are then wrapped in wool as a fire retardant instead of toxic chemicals or man-made materials. Organic cotton makes up the outer-most layer of these environmentally-friendly and all-natural mattresses.
